There is a lot to love about this show; the cast are strong, and the onstage band who interact in the main diner setting is a fun touch.

Please Don't Use my Flannel for That: A Memoir | Lou SanzWho is Lou Sanz? She is cute, she is clever, and she is witty in her loquacity. Yet the story of her memoir is so beyond bizarre, you think it can’t be true.

At 18, Lou went to Hollywood, a green young Australian girl, to observe the production of her screenplay, bought by a Hollywood studio. She discovered that not all Americans are hospitable. Actually, the only American’s she seemed to meet were human traffickers, police, drug addicts and a psycho Spanish woman with only one breast.

Regardless of veracity, her story is amusing, and she draws laughs with clever phrasing and deadpan explicitness. However I can’t help feeling I am missing the point, and need someone to explain the joke. If I hadn’t come in expecting something I could swallow as a memoir, then I could enjoy the eccentricity and crassness of the show. Lou Sanz’s story is an elaboration that hits the highest octave of wackiness too many times for believability.
